The Veterinary Support Personnel Network is for veterinary support staff working with, for, or in the field of veterinary medicine, under the direction of a licensed veterinarian. Membership in VSPN is free. In order to have access to all of VSPN's community features including message boards, chats, and CE, you will need to register (click on the REGISTER button on the left side of this screen).

ABSTRACT OF THE WEEK
Dog obesity: veterinary practices' and owners' opinions on cause and management.
Veterinary practices felt that 3% of cases could be attributed to dog specific factors and 97% to human specific factors such as diet, exercise, and owner attitudes. Management strategies included reducing food intake, reduced treat feeding, and changing diet before recommending more intensive options such as obesity clinics. Of the surveyed veterinary practices, 43% ran obesity clinics and 79% of those believed they were a valuable management tool.

Early in the morning August 26, 2010 the VSPN message boards were down from about 4am ET to 9am ET. The VIN geeks were notified, the issue was resolved quickly. We apologize for any inconvenience. Any time you find an issue with the websites of VIN not working correctly, please email support@vin.com.

A new version of our Unity classroom/chatroom has been released. We have added a review chat window that you can open and actually do a search for a term to find something that you want to review from earlier in the chat or class. We will be updating the FAQ's on the Unity classroom to add information about these new features in the next couple of weeks.

Speaking of FAQ's - we have made some major revisions to the message board area of the FAQ so you can find answers to your questions faster. Please see Message Boards Reads, Posts and Use and Who are the Moderators to view the updates on these documents!
